President`s
Message by Laurence
J. Silvi, II, President, NJCAA
Welcome to the ninth
edition of The Conveyor, the New Jersey Concrete and Aggregate
Association's magazine that provides ideas, association news and
transportation construction related news to more than 5,000 materials
suppliers, contractors, architects, engineers and public officials
throughout New Jersey and the construction industry.
This issue of our magazine will highlight Penn
Jersey Building Materials and Tuckahoe Sand & Gravel. The backbone
of our association has and will always be the small company. They
serve as invaluable members and provide the NJCAA with the strength
it needs in both promoting concrete and advocating the industry
before government agencies and the legislature. The magazine also
features an in depth article from NJDOT Commissioner Jack Lettiere
on the NJDOT's new Pavement Management Program, as well as an update
on the impact on the industry of the Saddle Mountain v. Borough
of Ringwood case from the NJCAA's counsel Carmen Saginario. There's
also a feature article on new equipment and materials improvements
and a legislative update.
The highlight of the industry's winter is the
Mid-Atlantic Concrete Construction and Aggregate Forum. This year
the event will take place on February 23rd through the 25th. We
are extremely excited to announce that this year's forum will be
held at the newly built Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.
The Borgata, with its 11 restaurants and spa, is one of the most
exciting things to happen to Atlantic City in more than 10 years.
Once inside, you'll think you are in Las Vegas. Registration and
exhibit information will be mailed shortly. So don't miss an opportunity
to network with members of the industry while enjoying the excitement
generated by the new Borgata.
Attendance at our events and participation in
the association's committees and legislative action program are
critical to our success. Your commitment is and will always remain
greatly appreciated. Without your support, the NJCAA would lack
the resources it needs to promote and advocate for concrete and
aggregate producers in New Jersey. Thank you. I look forward to
seeing all of you at one of the many association events that keep
the NJCAA strong and vibrant.
